March 12, 2026 Construction Update

TFord resumed construction activities on the Lowes Pond Dam site during the first week of March. Site improvement work is currently underway, including excavation work associated with the bioretention areas and associated drainage pipes as well as establishment of new parking areas, walking paths, and guardrail. The pedestrian bridge is scheduled to be installed on March 20, 2026, and will be delivered to the site in one piece by truck. The truck will access the site by travelling south on Fort Hill Road (off of Sutton Avenue), and then north on Huguenot Road. The truck will be staged on Huguenot Road and the crane used for the bridge installation will be staged on the work site. Due to the transport of the bridge to the Lowes Pond Dam site, a one-day road closure of the portion of Huguenot Road between Main Street and the Lowes Pond site will be required, and vehicular access along the portion of Huguenot Road west of the Lowes Pond site will be restricted to local traffic only.  Vehicular traffic on Fort Hill Road may also be temporarily disrupted due to the passage of the truck transporting the bridge. A Traffic Management Plan has been prepared and distributed to property owners on Huguenot and Fort Hill Roads and is also posted on this website.
